One of the questions that people ask about our ministry is, why did you decided to call it "Otra Onda/Youth Wave"?
Some people think that the name is a little controversial. The truth is that if we want to reach the young people of 2006, we have to get out of our religious language. I believe that the way young people think today is very different from the way of thinking of yesterday's young. I always say, we can't go fight today's war with weapons from the past . I believe that one of the reasons young people think that going to church is boring, is because they cant relate to it. There are industries that invests millions of dollars daily to infest the minds of our young people with negative messages. This industries, like MTV and Hollywood, make the work of the Church harder. The truth is that, if we want to reach this generation, we have to change our way of thinking to realize what young people and teenagers like.
A person asked me why the name Otra Onda/Youth Wave? I thought about it for a while and remembered what the scriptures say in Isaiah 43:19; "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway thru the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry waste land".
What else is there to explain? God is a God of new things. "the old things have passed, behold they are made new ". Many times we stays stuck in the old things. Traditions and doctrines created by men. This is the reason why the youth of today is not impacting their communities. They live a life of routine, we want to live in yesterday victories. We believe that just because God has given us the privilege of being His sons, we will change the world by doing nothing. God wants to take his church to a higher dimension, He wants to bring a revival to His people and do new things in their cities. The God that I serve is bringing new things. The youth of today need something refreshing, they are in a desert that is killing them. God has placed Otra Onda/Youth Wave, as an oasis in the desert. It is not the only oasis, and it is not pretending to be. I give thanks to God because we are a small part of the New Waves that He is bringing
